At Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest (PPPSW), expanding access to care is more than a goal—it’s the heart of what we do. We’re proud to now offer Apretude, a long-acting injectable HIV prevention medication, at our First Avenue Family Planning Michelle Wagner Center in downtown San Diego.
Apretude is a major step forward in HIV prevention. Given every two months (after two starter doses), it is a more discreet and convenient option than daily oral PrEP—making prevention easier and more accessible.
Launching this service as Pride Month wraps up and San Diego celebrations begin is no coincidence – it is a reflection of our year-round commitment to LGBTQ+ health, dignity, and choice. As Dr. Antoinette Marengo, our Chief Medical Transformation Officer, says: “This is more than a new offering—it’s a step toward equity, reduced stigma, and a healthier future.”
