Celebrating the People Behind Our Mission
At Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest (PPPSW), our mission is powered by extraordinary people. Every day, our employees provide compassionate, high-quality health care, advocate for reproductive freedom, and help build healthier communities across San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial Counties.
Throughout the year, we take time to recognize the dedicated professionals whose expertise, compassion, and commitment make our work possible. In October, and year-round, we celebrate the individuals behind the care, support, and advocacy that patients depend on every day — including Certified Nurse Midwives, Customer Service Representatives, Medical Assistants, and Physician Assistants.
National Certified Nurse Midwives Week
At PPPSW, our Certified Nurse Midwives provide culturally responsive, and evidence-based care that helps improve health outcomes for patients and families throughout our region. Their impact reaches far beyond individual appointments and helps improve access to reproductive health care across our regions.
By expanding access to quality care and ensuring every patient is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion, our midwives play a critical role in advancing health equity for communities that have historically faced barriers to care..
National Customer Service Week – Honoring Our Contact Center Representatives
The most rewarding part has been seeing our members engage with the work we’re doing! They’re reading our articles, participating in discussions, and even submitting thoughtful essay responses for raffle prizes. We have an incredible group of people in this ERG. Hearing their stories and getting to learn more about their experiences has been one of the biggest motivations for me to continue showing up and celebrating them.
Contact Center Representatives help ensure every patient feels supported, respected, and valued from the moment they reach out for care. Their professionalism, empathy, and commitment to service are essential to the patient journey and central to our mission.
Medical Assistants Recognition Week
Medical Assistants are at the heart of patient care. From welcoming and preparing patients for appointments, to supporting clinicians and managing essential clinical workflows – Medical Assistants help ensure health centers run smoothly while building trusting relationships with patients.
At PPPSW, Medical Assistants play a vital role in delivering compassionate and high-quality reproductive health services, whose contributions create a ripple effect across our health centers and the communities we serve. For individuals seeking a hands-on career where they can combine clinical skills with compassionate patient care, working as a Medical Assistant at Planned Parenthood offers meaningful opportunities to make an impact every day.
National Physician Assistant Week
At PPPSW, Physician Assistants provide high-quality care that improves health outcomes and strengthens the overall well-being of our communities.
PAs are skilled clinicians, patient advocates, and leaders who help expand access to essential sexual and reproductive health care. Their ability to meet patients where they are, listen with empathy, and provide evidence-based care makes them indispensable members of our health care team.
